We're Off!

After a furious few weeks of packing we are on the road, heading in the wrong direction. Our eventual destination for this trip will be Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, although we are heading west into the Adirondack Park. Mostly, we wanted to eat hot dogs at Gene's Michigan Stand one more time before we left!

Our first stop on our eastbound trip would be the Gribnau camp in Atwell, New York for the yearly Independence Day gathering.

With bikes packed, we couldn't help but stop in Newcomb to pick up Tom Henry to pedal into Great Camp Santanoni. Dodging horse manure was the biggest challenge of this road, leading to one of our favorite destinations. The camp was relatively busy with other folks out enjoying the weather on the 4th of July weekend.

After coasting down the hill, we repacked the bikes and bid Tom a fond adieu. We eased on down the road, arriving in Atwell just in time to snag some lasagna. We watched fireworks over the lake and went to bed early.

The next day, we got the bikes off the car again and followed logging roads around the perimeter of North Lake. The hills offered some great exercise and we paused at the bridges over the many branches of the Black River to enjoy the scenery and soak our feet! When we arrived back at camp, we strapped on the feedbag for the rest of the day. It was a good day.

Today, we are packing up to start striking north towards Canada - at least we will then be in the correct country for this trip. Our first stop will be at the Thousand Island area on the St. Lawrence River. To the car!
